BIO

I was born on March 6, 1991. I started to play the piano at the age of four and made my first own, original compositions at the age of seven. My main piano teachers have been Outi Vainiomäki (starting in 1998) and Mika Lilius (since 2009). I have also participated in master courses led by Meri Louhos, Teppo Koivisto and others. I have received lessons in saxophone and sitar playing, but the piano has always been my main instrument. I started my composition lessons under Jukka Koskinen in 1999 and stayed in close contact with him until his passing in 2023. I have also participated in composition master classes and workshops under Lotta Wennäkoski and Alastair White. Some of my works have been created as collaborations with others (like Theremin player Susanna Viljanmaa and percussionist Asta Hyvärinen).

I joined the Finnish contemporary music foundation Korvat Auki in 2019. My compositions have since been performed in its events and other events in Finland and abroad, for example by Australian Ensemble Offspring and Slovenian .abeceda new music ensemble. Most of my output consists of piano music, music for different chamber ensembles and electroacoustic or electronic works. As a composer, my influences are diverse, including composers like Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Schoenberg, Berg, Feldman, Carter, Varèse, Stockhausen and Koenig; jazz, world music (mostly from South, East and South-East Asia) and several kinds of experimental music.  In addition to my work as a composer, I have given piano recitals in different locations in Finland.
